Three Seas Initiative in practice

On the 17th of July, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the representatives of Schwander Polska attended the workshops organised by the Regional Development Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The discussions focused mainly on EU funds and projects, with special attention devoted to IPA programme (Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance) and cross-border cooperation between Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegowina - Montenegro 2014 - 2020.

Strengthening the cooperation between the so-called Three Seas Initiative countries discussed during meeting of presidents of Poland and Croatia

The meeting in Bosnia and Herzegovina fits into the Three Seas Initiative, which constituted the main focus during the recent meeting of Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the President of Croatia. The Three Seas Initiative promotes the cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in terms of the energy security, transport, digitisation, economy and environmental protection. As the President of Croatia underlined, it is necessary to expand the power supply infrastructure and to increase Polish investments in Croatia. Andrzej Duda emphasised that Poland and Croatia have established numerous business relations which function well and "offer very good prospects". He pointed out that the Polish entrepreneurs were fulfilling the idea of the Three Seas initiative – which aims to boost cooperation among countries between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic Seas – through their operations.

Furthermore, the President underlined the importance of strengthening Polish and Croatian relations. I encourage the representatives of Croatian and Polish business sector to intensify this cooperation - he said. Schwander Polska has been fulfilling this initiative for a long time by forming a partnership with Croatian companies of water and sewage sector and attending numerous meetings with the representatives of local and governmental authorities in order to implement MBR technology and simplify tender procedures. Cross border cooperation Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 

Taking part in the workshops was the next step towards strengthening and extending the partnership by supporting the cross-border cooperation between Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro in the scope of EU programs and funds. The organiser of the workshops, Regional Development Associartion in Bosnia and Herzegovina RDA BiH focuses on improving the economical situation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by promoting the cooperation between the private sector, governmental authorities and the representatives of civil society. The main aim of the agency is to establish a long-term partnership by creating a friendly environment for the implementation of numerous business projects and ideas, as well as granting necessary help for the potential beneficiaries of EU funds at the stage of preparation of tender documents. To fulfil this mission the agency consults with the representatives of concerned entities and organisations at various levels, in this way creating the platform promoting the implementation of economic reforms, regional cooperation, sustainable growth and environmental protection. 

Presentation on biological wastewater treatment in Bosnia and Herzegovina 

The representatives of Schwander Polska shared their knowledge and experience in obtaining EU funds, preparation of tender documentation and implementation the most innovative technology of wastewater treatment in the world - MBR RTC N/DN, recommended by EU directives as BAT (Best Available Technique). The presentation received an enthusiastic reception from the representatives of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia. The representatives received a certificate of participation in the workshop "EU funds and programmes within IPA Programme and cross-border cooperation Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 2014 - 2020." In October, the representatives of the said countries shall visit Poland in order to exchange experiences on the operation of wastewater treatment plants and procedures regarding EU co-financed projects.
