III INTERNATIONAL MEMBRANE CONFERENCE
04.02.2019

The 3rd International Membrane Conference devoted to the summary of the effects of innovative solutions introduced at Municipal wastewater treatment plants in 2018, took place on 7 December 2018.

A new diffuser for Alfa Laval - S-AeratorTM developed by Schwander Polska

One of the most important innovations that the company can be proud of is the development of the S-AeratorTM diffuser, which allows a 40% reduction in the amount of air used to aerate membrane modules, which translates into significant energy savings for the end user. As a result of the agreement signed with Alfa Laval, Schwander Polska has become the sole manufacturer and supplier of S-AeratorTM diffusers for Alfa Laval membrane modules, in accordance with the proprietary design developed by Schwander Polska. Joint research conducted by Schwander Polska, Alfa Laval and a Danish University clearly confirmed the effectiveness of the S-AreatorTM diffuser.

Development of an original CIP rinsing system

Another success of Schwander Polska is the development of a highly effective CIP rinsing system for membrane modules, which is 100% effective and evenly removes surface contaminants from the membrane plates, allowing the membranes to be renewed and the flow to be restored to its original values.

Superior Control System and biological removal of biogens

Schwander Polska devoted a lot of attention to the biological removal of biogens and the creation of algorithms for the Superior Control System, developed on the basis of periodic research conducted as part of cooperation with the Cracow University of Technology. As the conditions in the treatment plant are subject to dynamic changes, a system of automatic monitoring control of changes and automatic adjustment of operation is necessary. This is where an automatic online control system is needed. The systems developed by Schwander Polska in cooperation with the Cracow University of Technology are designed to monitor process conditions through properly arranged measuring devices at the wastewater treatment plant. Then, the system automatically analyzes the received data and immediately affects the executive devices (pumps, dampers). The systems operate on the basis of control algorithms that determine the optimal values of process parameters, such as: aeration intensity, internal recirculation or excess sludge discharge. In 2019, it is planned to continue the research and test the MBR wastewater treatment plant in natural conditions on an unprecedented scale.
