Simplification of tendering procedure and MBR technology were the main issues discussed in Croatia

On the 26th of April 2017 Schwander Polska attended the meeting with representatives of Hrvatske Vode, an institution equivalent to Polish Fund for Environment Protection and Water Management.

The meeting was attended by the heads of leading Croatian companies in the sector of sewage and water management, Deputy General Manager and representatives of Hrvatske Vode - an institution responsible for water management, strategy and planning, development of control measures addressing hydrological conditions, water quality management, public water supply, documentation and project management, cooperation with business entities and project financing, sourced both from European Union funding programmes as well as national funds. 

The questions subject to consultation involved issues related to simplification of legislation and bureaucracy of public procurement procedure in Croatia, creation of the most favourable conditions for development and promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises in water and sewage management and formulation of transparent rules for public tendering. Furthermore, participants considered possible ways of implementation of the most innovative technology in wastewater treatment, based on the extensive knowledge and experience of Schwander Polska – an undisputable leader of MBR technology in Poland.

The discussion was preceded by a presentation prepared by Schwander Polska, clarifying the differences between wastewater treatment plants in MBR (membrane biological reactor) and CAS (conventional activated sludge) technology, pointing out the fact that wastewater treatment plants based on MBR technology allow for lower investment and operational costs and have no detrimental effect on environment. It has been stressed that the biggest asset of MBR technology is significant reduction of the size of the plant. Due to this fact, existing wastewater treatment plants, which require increasing capacity but at the same time cannot be increased in size, are perfect for retrofit  using MBR technology.
