'The first shovel' was driven under a new sewage treatment plant in Kunów
18.05.2018

The construction of the sewage treatment plant in Kunów is a strategic investment for the Municipality. The existing installation is almost 40 years old and does not fulfill its tasks and the stench emanating from it significantly hinders the daily life of the residents. After the construction of the new sewage treatment plant, all villages with sewage systems will be connected to Kunów. The new plant will be made in a very modern MBR technology. As noted by Stanisław Malinowski from the construction company, the purified water will be returned to the river. Technological processes will be fully automated, and thanks to photovoltaics, the treatment plant will be self-sufficient in terms of energy.

The mayor of Kunów, Lech Łodej, emphasizes that this is the largest investment in the history of the commune. The entire cost is PLN 16 million, PLN 7.2 million is co-financing from the ROP. The treatment plant will allow not only for the efficient reception of sewage that flows into the old treatment plant but much more.

The investor will start work on Friday, but the first shovel was officially dug in today. The ceremony was attended by the Municipality authorities, residents of Kunów and invited guests, including senator Jarosław Rusiecki and deputy voivode of Świętokrzyskie, Andrzej Bętkowski. The new treatment plant is scheduled to start operating in June next year.
